As an experienced marketer looking to move into a UX design role, I focused my graduate school coursework around being able to adapt my marketing skillset for UX and building off of that foundation. Click on the individual pieces below for some examples:

A bit about me
I took an unorthodox route to discover my passion for designing impactful user experiences.
After spending the beginning of my career as a “trained on the job” marketer, it was time for something new, and with no internal path to promotion, I decided to pursue a Masters in Communication and Digital Media at The University of Washington, where I could hone my marketing skills further.
And then I took my first UX class.
I was hooked. The aspects of research and design that I had been applying to marketing content suddenly took on a whole new life. My perspective on creating designs that resonate shifted from focusing on prospective customers to focusing on users.
Not only did I gain a newfound passion for a new (to me) kind of design, I also realized that…
My marketing experience makes me a better UX professional.
Because research & design are only a piece of the UX puzzle. My time as a marketer, paired with some of the business-focused communications classes I took at UW, gives me the ability to communicate effectively in any scenario.
